Motherhood is Warfare By: Danielle Murphy April 21, 2023
John 15:4-5, NIV “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
Motherhood is warfare, our very walk with God invites it. Are you engaged properly, staying connected to the source of all victory? Our spiritual bodies need daily care and attention just as our physical bodies do. We have very little to offer our children when we don’t stay connected to the vine. It is in the best interest of ourselves as well as our spouse and children that we would continually pursue God.
So when do you spend time with God in prayer and in His Word in order to wash and renew your mind? All day long our souls take on the heaviness of the world, it is imperative that we lay those burdens down and seek God’s wisdom and strength for each situation, for He truly cares for us. Have you ever given thought to the fact that when Jesus came he taught us to refer to God as our Father? He showed us how much God cares for those who love Him, He modeled it to us in His own relationship with Him.
Does your joy seem to be zapped from your life? Spend time with God! Have you found yourself short with your kids and your spouse? Grow in your relationship with Lord! He is always near. When things “feel” silent between us and God, we can always bet it’s because our hearts have not been close to His.
Do you feel the thirst and longing in your soul? Has this world and the things in it left you feeling worn down and empty? Then fill up on the goodness of God! The last few times I’ve come to spend time with the Lord feeling irritable and unthankful, I ended up quieting my soul and telling Him how desperately I needed His words of hope and truth. After silencing my mind I began to comb over scripture to find the things that matter the most to God—our hearts— and I began to write down and memorize the parts that spoke to me.
My days are much brighter when I invite Him in, not perfect, but brighter. When my soul is feeling empty and void I turn on worship music and sing about His goodness and faithfulness which in turn shatters my brokenness and hurt.
