Praise Report for the "A Big Family" Love Mission

The Apostle Paul told us, “Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ”. (Romans 8:17, NIV) God recently called us to host an event called “A Big Family” for His children to join together. From planning, inviting volunteers for different activities, the materials we need, and the set up as of the services on that day we experienced as said in the Bible, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26, NIV) “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28, NIV) Many of His children from different churches, families, and ages, all came and served with the love they have for Jesus, and for each other. Every one gave what they had and gave it cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7).

At the beginning of September, we received the vision and direction for “A Big Family” from the Lord and He also began to show us the place where the event should hosted and the activities we should have. By faith, we went to talk with the owner of the place which Holy Spirit was showing us. There was no doubt in our minds that if this was from God, it would be fulfilled (Joshua 23:14). The owner asked us what the name of this event would be, we heard “A Big Family” and told him and he agreed that it could be held there. Then, by faith, we prepared and printed flyers for the event and began to spread the word even before we had any volunteers. There were even some activities which required related skills, like balloon modelling. Remember how we mentioned that, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible”? (Matthew 19:26, NIV) Amazingly, just as 2 Chronicles 2:13 says, God continuously sent people who had the skills that were needed. Arts and crafts, science, music, balloon modelling…and all of them had cheerful hearts and were ready to serve by grilling the food, baking cookies, and preparing drink. Some even brought His beautiful creation – llamas and ducks, just as the Lord had told us would happen. This was not a one day event, for His children, this was a life blessing. Jesus said, “Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.” (Matthew 20:26, NIV) We can say that, with what we saw and experienced, all those who served were all servants of Christ.

Many people have asked us since the event, “How many people came?” Does it matter? Should that not be God’s decision? Just like every battle, God has His own strategy how to win, and for many to witness His glory. For us, we celebrated as we had over sixty volunteers who came to serve with us. We all served with one purpose in mind, to love God and to love others. Because of that, the purpose of the “A Big Family” event was fulfilled.

Let us share some more testimonies from the day with you, so you would know how good our God is!

One of the young volunteer’s grandmother texted me and shared with me how her granddaughter felt so blessed to have been there to help. She had served as a coordinator for the track and field games, and when she handed out a prize to a little girl, she heard the little girl say how it had touched her heart.

Two of the volunteers who came were old friends and worked at a same school. They had fallen out of contact for quite a long time because one of them had retired. What a great surprise it was for them that they could be reunited again on that day.

Many came to give, and there were many who could receive. One of the questions we heard a lot that day was, “How could it all be free?” The entrance, the food and drink, the activities, and the prizes… it all cost nothing to those who came. Yes, it all cost, but we cannot forget that, “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:6-8, NIV) And, I also remember that, “Jesus paid it all”.

What is the conclusion of this? “So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11, NIV)
